Pool Rules

Delshire Park Community Association (dba Delshire Swim Club) (the “Club”) has adopted the following pool rules (the “Rules”) to provide for the safety and enjoyment of its members and their guests during use of Club facilities. Adherence to the Rules is required of all members and their guests. The Board of Trustees or their designee shall have the responsibility and complete authority to enforce all Rules. Violation of the Rules may be cause for modification, suspension or forfeiture of Club privileges. The Board of Trustees shall be ultimately responsible for the interpretation of all Rules and shall have the authority to amend or revise the Rules in its sole discretion.

BASIC CLUB RULES:

  1. No Glass Containers
  2. No running on the concrete
  3. No climbing of any fences
  4. No excessive horseplay to the discomfort of others (wrestling, dunking, splashing, etc.)
  5. No spitting
  6. No cussing
  7. No diving in shallow end
  8. Clean up after yourself
  9. Chairs may not be reserved unless you’re having a scheduled/reserved party
  10. Children under the age of 10 MUST be accompanied by someone 18 or older
  11. No children over the age of 2 in the large pool during adult swim. During adult swim, the pool is closed/Baby pool open to parents with toddlers only.
  12. If thunder is heard or lightning is seen, the lifeguard will blow the whistle and everyone must exit the pool immediately – No one will be allowed to re-enter the pool until there has been no thunder or lightning for at least 30 minutes
  13. We reserve the right to close the pool during inclement weather that prohibits swimming.
  14. All guests must be accompanied by a member during their entire visit
  15. If you lose your membership card, replacement cards are $5.00 each
  16. The lifeguards on duty manage the pool during business hours and will enforce pool rules as instructed by the board. The guards acting as pool managers are allowed to suspend membership privileges to any member for an immediate 24 hours based on the circumstance.
  17. If the whistle is blown at you for unruly conduct the following policy will be enforced:
    • 1st offense: whistle & warning
    • 2nd offense: benched and Board Member notified, guards on duty will determine amount of time and offender will be warned that a 3rd offense will be cause of expulsion for the remainder of the day
    • 3rd time: Parents will be notified and you will be asked to leave for the day
    • Guard on duty or Board Member may expel without warning for egregious behavior
  18. The Board of Health recommends babies in swim diapers (swimmies) remain in the baby pool
  19. Chairs must stay in the grass area around the pool.

General Rules

  1. The Club assumes no responsibility for members or their guests. Members and their guests shall have no claim against the Club for any accident, injury, or damage to any persons on Club premises, or for property which is brought upon or left on Club premises.
  2. Smoking is strictly prohibited in non-smoking areas. Smoking areas are beyond the pool lamp posts by the deep end in the grassy area or in grassy area under tree between Garden Shelter and tennis courts. Smoking is prohibited on pool deck, shelter areas, baby pool area, or playground area. Please pick up after yourself and dispose of your cigarette butts appropriately.
  3. Guns, firearms and weapons are strictly prohibited on Club premises.
  4. Pets are not permitted on Club premises with the exception of service animals.
  5. The Club may not be used for any political purpose. Soliciting or offering anything for sale on Club premises is prohibited unless specifically authorized by the Club.
  6. Common rules of courtesy shall be exercised by members and guests at all times. Members and guests shall refrain from abusive or foul language, loudness, etc.
  7. All complaints regarding service or infraction of the Rules shall be reported to a member of the Board of Trustees.
  8. Members are responsible for any damages caused by the member or their guest for any wrongdoing resulting from disobeying of club rules and guidelines.

Hours of Operation

  1. Unless otherwise determined by the Board of Trustees, Opening Day shall be on the first Friday of Memorial Day weekend, and Closing Day shall be on Labor Day.
  2. The day-to-day hours of operations shall be posted at the Club front entrance and on the Club website. Exceptions to the normal day-to-day hours of operation shall be posted well in advance of the scheduled activity.
  3. The Club may be closed other than as originally scheduled due to severe weather, health reasons, maintenance, or any other reason deemed necessary by the Board of Trustees.

Member / Guest Entrance

  1. All members must check in at the Club front desk prior to entry upon Club premises. Children under the age of 12 must be checked in by parent members. Children 12-15 years old that can pass a basic swim test (administered by the lifeguards) will be allowed at the pool without an adult. Emergency forms must be filled out.
  2. All guests must be accompanied by a member over 16 years of age and must present a guest pass or pay any required guest fee prior to admittance on Club premises. For members 16-18 years old, guests must be at least 12 years old.
  3. A non-member of the Club may be a guest at the Club no more than five times per calendar month, regardless of what member sponsors the guest. This rule includes non-member children whom members babysit.
  4. The sponsoring member must remain at the Club with the guest. The good conduct of each guest is the direct responsibility of the sponsoring member.
  5. Guest fees and monthly entry limit are waived for babysitters who are proving supervision of Club member children under the age of 10. If and when a parent member arrives at the Club, the babysitter must leave or pay the appropriate guest fees, and the monthly entry limit for guests applies. Babysitters may not host non-member guests at the Club.

Health and Safety

  1. No member under the age of 12 years old will be permitted to use Club facilities unless he/she is accompanied by an adult. Members under the age of 16 years old may be required to pass a swim test at the discretion of the Board of Trustees or their designee.
  2. Proper swimming attire must be worn at all times during pool use. Non-swimmers should wear an approved Personal Flotation Device or life jacket.
  3. Anyone with skin, ear, or eye infections, or having a fever, cough, or sore throat will not be permitted in the pool.
  4. It only takes seconds for a child to drown. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to closely supervise their children at all times, including in the baby pool.
  5. Unnecessary roughness, including running, pushing, dunking, etc., shall not be permitted inside or outside of the pool. Breath-holding games/contests and prolonged under water swimming is prohibited.
  6. Only one person at a time shall be allowed on the diving board. All divers shall enter the water from the end of the diving board, entering in the direction of the dive well safety rope. Young divers must demonstrate swimming skills before being allowed to dive off boards at the sole discretion of the Board of Trustees or their designee. Diving from the side of the dive well and swimming through the diving area is prohibited while boards are in use. Diving shall not be permitted in water less than 5 feet in depth. Please make sure your child meets the height restriction to be able to jump from the high dive.
  7. No children over the age of 6 should be playing in the baby pool. This area is meant for little ones that are too small for the big pool. All children in the baby pool must be supervised by an adult and may not be left unattended for any reason.
  8. Riding or hanging on to the life line (the ropes) is prohibited.
  9. Inflatables with ropes or valve systems are prohibited. If, in the sole discretion of the Board of Trustees or their designee, the use of inflatable rafts and toys, or balls of any kind will interfere with the safety and pleasure of other members, use of them is prohibited.
  10. Proper attire should be worn on the tennis courts at all times.

Food and Drinks

  1. Glass containers of any kind are strictly prohibited on Club premises.
  2. Food is not permitted on the edge of the pool or in the pool, including the baby pool. Drinks are allowed however during kids swim they need to stay close to the edge of the pool.  Drinks can never be left unattended.
  3. Consumption of food and drinks on Club premises requires the courtesy of the responsible member for proper clean up and disposal of those items. Eating meals is not permitted on the pool deck.
  4. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on Club grounds during Private Pool Swim League meets.
  5. Clean up after yourself. This means throwing away trash, cleaning up spills, and leaving the grills as clean or cleaner than you found them.
